CUREkids Coordinator (Contractor)

CURE is seeking candidates for possible future opportunities as a CUREkids Coordinator at one of its hospitals.  The CUREkids Coordinator acts as a liaison and connection among the CURE programs, CURE headquarters, and the growing community of friends and supporters of CURE.  

The CUREkids Coordinator’s primary responsibilities involve the collection, authoring, and uploading of media to support the CUREkids Program, as well as other communications meant for use on the Internet and in print. The CUREkids Coordinator is essentially the eyes and ears of CURE, documenting the lives of those the organization gets to serve.

This is a two-year contract assignment with the opportunity for renewal.

The CUREkids Coordinator responsibilities are:

  • Document the experience of children who are undergoing treatment at a CURE hospital or CURE program.
  • Gather basic information on patients including contact information, parent/guardian information, and treatment dates.
  • Produce 3 publishable, appropriate digital photos of the child during the initial meeting including a) 1 header photo of the child b) 1 photo of the child's condition and c) 1 photo of the child's face.
  • Gather quotes from the child and/or from their parent(s)/guardian(s) to use in an initial paragraph-length story, intended to introduce supporters to the child.
  • Produce video clip(s) of the child before, during and after treatment (preferred, but not required).
  • Provide status updates on each child for every appointment he/she attends, which include:
    • Pictures and/or videos documenting his/her clinic visit and experience.
    • Updates on treatment schedules/rescheduling as it relates to the child.
    • An overall explanation of treatment progress and feedback from the parent/guardian/child on their experience.

Other CUREkids Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Provide weekly status reports to the CUREkids management team
  • Produce and deliver monthly blog pieces and photos of the week to the Manager, Digital Marketing.
  • Participate in audio calls and monthly teleconference meetings as directed by the Chief Technology Officer.
  • Provide communications support to other departments within CURE, including the Accountability and Development teams.

Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Photojournalism, Photography, Communications, Marketing or related degree, or equivalent amount of related experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience with photography, videography and photojournalism.
  • Experience with Internet social media tools including Facebook, Skype, YouTube, Twitter, blogs and email.
  • Experience using, or exposure to, Adobe Lightroom and Final Cut Pro X, or related software.
  • Experience using, or exposure to, Mac OS X.
  • Previous experience serving overseas preferred, but not required.
  • Passionate about the mission of CURE International.
  • Love for children and their families.
  • Comfortable working in a medical setting.
  • Advanced photography and video competence regarding DSLR cameras, lighting, composition, editing ,etc.
  • Excellent ability to write and communicate in short-form for a western audience.
  • Written and spoken fluency with the English language.
