Regional Director, Finance (Africa)
CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a Regional Director, Finance (Africa), which could be based out of any of the African countries in which CURE currently operates hospitals. The Regional Director, Finance (Africa) provides support and oversight to CURE's Africa programs ensuring consistency and compliance with CURE's mission, core values and operating guidelines. This position maintains a special focus on providing accounting support, financial integrity and record keeping by supporting hospitals in budget preparation, compliance, and reporting. The Regional Director, Finance (Africa) is also responsible for internal audit and review functions for the hospitals and assists in policy and standards creation and implementation.
Provide support to Hospital Finance Managers to ensure sound program management practices and maximize program outcomes. This includes:
Guidance and mentoring
Practical problem solving and assistance
Monitoring and evaluation
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews for all Africa based hospitals and programs.
Collaborate with the Director, Finance and entire Finance team to complete and communicate financial analysis that is useful in making business decisions about how the hospitals and programs should be run.
Travel to each of the Africa Hospital locations at least annually to perform an internal audit and compliance review.
Complete additional travel to each of the Africa Hospital locations to assist in major initiatives or to assist in solving miscellaneous finance issues.
Work with hospital finance teams to assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
Recommend, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in response to changing financial control conditions.
Ensure proper documentation of all matters related to the financial management function.
Assess, and establish solutions for, staff training and development needs related to the utilization of accounting software.
Consult with domestic and international management team members, as well as the human resources team, on all financially related staff relations issues.
Consult with the MSC management team on financial structure and design issues.
Consult with management team members on issues related to the utilization of finances to achieve organizational objectives.
Participate on various strategic teams as requested.
Participate in the interview process for certain prospective candidates (e.g. for hospital Finance Manager positions).
Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Current and active license as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent, preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years related experience in supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of a small to medium-sized organization.
International organization experience preferred, but not required.
Non-profit experience preferred, but not required.
Internal auditing experience preferred, but not required.
Strong problem solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of integrity and accountability.
Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
Attention to detail within the context of the larger organizational vision and mission of CURE.
Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
Ability to be responsive to questions and direction from senior management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
Ability to execute and follow through to completion.
