CUREkids Program Intern (Fall 2017)

CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a CUREkids Program Intern (Fall 2017), preferably at a location in close proximity to Grand Rapids, MI where the CUREkids Manager is located, or alternatively at the headquarters (Mission Support Center) location in Pennsylvania.  This position represents a unique opportunity for students to gain practical work experience and increase their understanding of relevant issues related to their field of studies. The CUREkids Program Intern will support the CUREkids team in editing and publishing to help ensure quality control and efficiency in its program.  

This internship is unpaid, and part-time. The timeframe for the internship is Fall 2017 (approximately August or September 2017 – December 2017). CURE will support college credit, upon request.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Support CUREkids Manager in managing quantitative and qualitative program output.  
  • Work with CUREkids Manager on all story collection, editing and publishing.   
  • Assist in the collection, publishing, and quality control of stories on the CUREkids platform. 
  • Provide support in the development and strengthening of the CUREkids program.  
  • Assist in the development, implementation of training or e-learning for CUREkids Coordinators in the field.  
  • Suggest strategies for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.  
  • Provide assistance in evaluation of the story collection for content, clarity and delivery.  

Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:

  • Student studying for a Bachelors degree in Journalism or Communications.  
  • Previous international experience preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and other communications skills required.
  • Strong analytical and research skills are essential.
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical standards at all times.
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated to learn.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to think critically and work independently are a must.
  • Proficiency in institutional supported software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google docs) strongly desired.
  • Proven commitment to pursuing a career in international development strongly preferred.
