Housekeeping Attendant

Beit-CURE Hospital, Malawi is looking to fill the position of Housekeeping Attendants. A Housekeeping Attendant is a member of the support staff responsible for ensuring that the hospital is kept clean at all times. He/she works under the supervision of a House keeping supervisor in accordance with the agreed hospital policies. She/he will also attend any other duties regularly as required.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Daily mopping in accordance with WHO/MoH and protocols.
• Conducting thorough dump dusting of all surfaces within the hospital.
• Carryout Scheduled General heavy cleaning of certain areas that includes disinfection of whole facility on monthly basis.
• Cleaning of the incinerator and operating the incinerator (be it burning wastes or body parts) 
• Perform routine inspection, report by documenting maintenance work that needs fixing in maintenance request book.
• Ensure cleaning utensils, mops, brooms, cleaning clothes are cleaned and properly put at designated place to dry at the end of each working.
• Ensure proper use of color-coded cleaning utensils and waste bins.
• Ensure safe storage of  cleaning chemicals and other supplies.
• Follow all safety and quality regulations during housekeeping activities.
• Conducting inspection to ensure availability of alcohol-based sanitizer and hand soap in all hand hygiene stations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in Hospitality with specialization in Accommodation.   
• Over two years experience in housekeeping, those with hospital housekeeping experience will have an added advantage. 
• Computer literate.
