Kitchen Assistant - Part Time
JOB SUMMARY
The Kitchen Assistant will support the efficient operation of the hospital kitchen by ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food preparation, and service. The role involves assisting the Chef with basic food preparation, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, organizing kitchen supplies, and ensuring timely meal service for patients, caregivers, and staff. The Kitchen Assistant contributes to a clean, orderly, and well‑functioning kitchen environment that upholds the hospital’s commitment to quality care and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as directed by the cook or chef.
Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, equipment, and storage areas in line with food safety standards.
Dishwashing: Clean dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen tools using appropriate methods.
Stock Support: Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries; rotate stock to maintain freshness.
Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste properly and keep bins clean and organized.
Meal Support: Assist in plating, portioning, and serving food when required.
General Assistance: Support cooks and kitchen staff with any routine tasks to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
