Nurse Anaesthetist
POSITION OVERVIEW:
To provide high-quality clinical care to patients under the direction of an Anaesthesiologist and the Nurse in Charge. The Nurse anesthetist's primary responsibility is to provide patients with anesthesia-related care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide expert care to HDU patients, including oxygen therapy and respiratory support.
Act as first responder in emergencies, including intubation, Code Blue, and airway management.
Conduct preoperative assessments and patient education; identify anaesthetic risks.
Administer medications, manage pain, and monitor for adverse reactions.
Participate in ward rounds and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
Mentor staff in critical care skills and deliver basic resuscitation training.
Ensure critical care equipment is functional and supplies are maintained.
Support sedation and airway management for procedures outside the theatre; stabilize critically ill patients and lead resuscitation efforts.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in Nursing Anaesthesia
- Current licensure or registration as a nurse anesthetist.
- Minimum Experience Required: 3 years’ experience in private or hospital practice.
