Biomed Technician
SUMMARY
The Biomedical Technician supports medical staff by ensuring all healthcare equipment is properly installed, maintained, and functioning optimally. Responsibilities include installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of medical devices. The technician also trains users on the correct operation of equipment and ensures compliance with safety standards.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, install, and test medical and technical equipment in healthcare.
Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and reference materials such as manufacturer manuals and maintenance schedules.
Service various hospital devices, including patient monitors, X-ray machines, defibrillators, anaesthesia machines, sterilizers, diathermy equipment, and more.
Perform safety checks on medical equipment and facility infrastructure to minimize electrical and mechanical risks to patients and staff.
Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure all equipment is functioning safely and effectively, applying knowledge of electronics and medical terminology.
Train and demonstrate proper equipment use to hospital personnel
Ensure adherence to hospital policies and regulatory safety standards.
Perform basic maintenance tasks related to the hospital facility.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology/ Electronic Engineering,
1–3 years of relevant experience working with biomedical equipment.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic test equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including electronic circuit diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
