POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Plumber is responsible for assessing, managing, repairing and upgrading the hospital’s plumbing systems. They are responsible for  implementing and completing their assigned plumbing maintenance work. When an outside plumbing Contractor is needed to conduct repair works, the Plumber  supervises and monitors their work progress to ensure work is completed in a timely efficient manner that aligns to requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Ensure continuous supply of sufficient and clean water on the hospital premises
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on fixtures such as predicting clogged drain lines, repairing leaking faucets, replacing worn or bad fixtures, etc. 
  3. Read meters and report water usage.
  4. Install and maintain pipes and fittings including assembly, cutting, threading, and grooving to accomplish goals. 
  5. Perform plumbing, heating, and pipe fitting repair and replacement including high-pressure steam systems, hot water heating systems, drainage systems, etc. 
  6. Maintain culinary water systems (water filters) and test and repair backflow prevention devices. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies including ordering replacement materials, filling out associated forms, repairing damaged or broken equipment etc. 
  7. Prioritize duties, engineer methods of repair, computer entry of time records, daily processing of work orders on the computer.
  8. Assist outside contractors as needed and assist with the design and review of in-house remodel projects so they meet hospital requirements. 
  9. Be available on call as and including weekends, nights, and holidays when need arises. 
  10. Be able to complete other related duties as assigned. 
  11. Effectively communicates with all department supervisors regarding ongoing repairs and maintenance of systems and equipment.
  12. In the event of malfunctioning plumbing & draining systems or equipment, use the appropriate tools to identify the cause of a breakdown and perform corrective maintenance.
  13. Use Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)to track all plumbing and drainage works in the hospital.
  14. Assemble, install, test, and maintain plumbing and drainage systems, equipment and fixtures. 
  15. Oversees the tools and equipment assigned to the department.
  16. Manages the inventory of plumbing and drainage spares, parts and supplies 
  17. Maintain an inventory of plumbing hand and powered tools, testing equipment. 
  18. Understand, maintain, manage, schedule and utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to inventory, schedule, document and report plumbing maintenance activities.
  19. Supports the purchasing of plumbing equipment, spares, parts and supplies 
  20. Maintains an up to date file of copies of equipment manuals and schematic diagrams supplied by manufacturers.
  21. Uses proper safety equipment at all times when inspecting, repairing, transporting and maintaining plumbing and drainage equipment and systems. 
  22. Maintain an organized, healthy and safe work environment and training fellow co-workers
