Position Summary:
CURE Children’s Hospital of Zimbabwe is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Logistics Supervisor This key role ensures that medical and non-medical supplies are available when needed, optimising inventory management and maintaining cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong planning, analytical, and financial skills to drive process improvements and meet the hospital’s supply needs seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain & Logistics Management: Oversee and coordinate logistics operations, including inventory control, transportation, and distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and other goods required by the hospital.
- Planning & Forecasting: Develop accurate logistics plans and forecasts by analyzing data, historical trends, and usage patterns to predict future supply needs, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring supplies are available and stored appropriately. Address discrepancies promptly and implement replenishment processes to avoid shortages.
- Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and distributors to ensure timely delivery and consistent supply. Track supplier performance, quality standards, and delivery timelines to meet hospital requirements.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Use data to track logistics performance, generate insights, and identify opportunities for improvement. Prepare regular reports on key logistics metrics such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment, and stock levels.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, reduce waste, improve efficiency, and implement best practices. Work with hospital departments to optimize material flow and operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, industry standards, and safety regulations related to the handling, storing, and transporting of supplies. Safeguard the integrity of medical and non-medical supplies.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise logistics staff, providing training, guidance, and leadership to maintain a productive and effective team. Foster a culture of collaboration and alignment with hospital objectives.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve logistics challenges such as supply delays, stock discrepancies, or shortages. Work closely with other departments to implement timely solutions.
- Frequent Storage Area Visits: Regularly visit storage areas, warehouses, and stockrooms to monitor inventory levels, verify stock organization, and ensure proper storage conditions. Ensure that inventory is easily accessible and properly maintained.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field focusing on logistics and supply chain management.
- Additional certifications such as APICS, Lean Six Sigma, or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management, vendor relations, and data analysis in a dynamic, high-demand environment.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to forecast, plan, and enhance logistics operations.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Odoo, or healthcare-specific tools).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.
- Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for savings in logistics operations.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of logistics, inventory management, and supply chain processes in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices for medical and non-medical supply handling and distribution
