Social Workers are part of the health care team and provide assessment and appropriate interventions to aid the patient in achieving optimum recovery/rehabilitation and quality of life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conduct an assessment of all new ortho, hernia, and plastics patients. It involves identifying the patient’s information, family composition and background, socioeconomic status, and presenting problem.
- Verify the patient’s current and active enrollment in PhilHealth/Universal Health Care (UHC) through the office of PHIC's portal.
- Educate and provide instructions to patients and their families in seeking medical assistance from Government agencies such as the Crisis Intervention Unit – Department of Social Welfare and Development (CIU – DSWD), Lingap (for Davao residents only), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO - for non-Davao residents), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO - for non-Davao residents) and Office of the Vice President (OVP).
- Involve in organizing Plastics & Reconstructive (including speech patients), hernia, and ortho clinic. It includes scheduling patients, monitoring, and coordinating with doctors and other hospital departments.
- Coordinate with Transport and Housing Manager to address any issues relating to patients needing accommodation and transportation.
- Encode and update the patient’s data to FileMaker specifically the patient’s information, surgery date, and the weekly surgery list.
- Coordinate and inform doctors/surgeons with regard to the updated surgery list - this is often done by the end of pedia clearance (Tuesday and Friday).
- Coordinate with hospital partners such as Smile Train, Seeds of Dignity (SOD), etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, especially with MSWDO or CSWDO in LGUs.
- Participate with the Nursing Team, Spiritual Ministry Team, Medical Records, and other departments to ensure proper discharge planning for each patient.
- Prepare and maintain master files of patients qualified for surgery and follow up on each case to establish communication with them and schedule them for surgery. This includes patients that visit one of our clinics as well as patients referred by partner ministries. LGUs or NGOs.
- Educate patients, caretakers, and organizations (if applicable) on the hospital, its operations, their expectations of them, and the Patient Charter.
- Educate patients, caretakers, and organizations on the requirements of their care and what they can expect during their confinement.
- Monitor the list of patients scheduled for surgeries from the mobile clinics and facilitate the admission process through the coordination of the LGU and other partners.
- In cooperation with the Spiritual Ministry Team, provide spiritual and psychological support to patients and caretakers and/or refer patients to Spiritual Ministry Team for follow-up/prayer/counseling.
- Travel for mobile screening or assist Patient Services Coordinators in promoting clinics in LGUs (. This includes program orientation of services offered by TCH.
- Scan anesthesia forms (pre, intra, and post) for Smile Train documentation.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned to support the mission of CURE Philippines
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency in line with hospital quality programs (e.g. Safecare, DOH, etc.) requirements.
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment by strictly adhering to infection prevention and control protocols such as but not limited to handwashing, wearing of PPE, etc.
- Commit to sustainable and eco-friendly work practices by minimizing waste, optimizing resource usage and actively participating in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship.
- Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
- Licenses/Certifications Required, if any: Active PRC License (RSW)
- Minimum Experience Required: Minimum 1-year experience as Social Worker
- Must have a love for people
- Ability to communicate well and work independently
- Must be organized and can prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
