Perioperative Nurse

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Developing plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
2.  Performing appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner.
3. Performing therapeutic nursing interventions as established by the individualized plan of care for the patient and their family.
4. Providing individualized patient/family education and discharge planning customized to the patient and their family.
5. Documenting patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention, and progress toward problem resolution.
6. Initiating emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation, and basic and advanced life support protocols.
7. Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to the patient, family, and client facility staff.
8.  Providing care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
9.  Reporting patient’s condition to appropriate personnel during each shift.
10.  Ensuring that all supplies necessary to perform surgical procedures are availed to the surgeon and the supporting team.
11.  Monitoring the physiological and psychological status of the patients.
12.  Maintaining current competency in perioperative nursing through continuing nursing education.

Qualifications Education and/or Experience Required at Entry

1. KRCHN or BSc. Nursing
    
2. Kenya Registered Perioperative Nurse.

1. 2 -year post-registration experience.
    
2. BLS Certified
    
3. Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, communication, administrative & customer care skills.
