Advertising Copywriter

CURE is seeking an Advertising Copywriter to join the Marketing Team at our Mission Support Center team located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Advertising Copywriter will write and edit copy for a variety of projects (including print, web, mobile, video, and social media), working closely with the design teams to brainstorm ideas, formatting and creating content, and develop messaging to meet the organization branding and marketing goals.

In addition to content crafting and information development, the Advertising Copywriter also assist with marketing initiatives, including writing, proofing, copyediting, and fact-checking, and help maintain the highest editorial standards and develop a consistent brand voice for all CURE marketing content

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Collaborate with internal partners to interpret project briefs and develop relevant concepts into content
  • Ensure that all outgoing marketing materials are proofed and ready for delivery or posting
  • Prepare files, scripts, and concept boards for team review and presentation
  • Take creative direction and report to Global Director of Marketing
  • Edit, format, and review communication and collateral including media, online content, articles, and print materials, in light of brand guidelines, messaging themes, and voice.
  • Creating and editing original copy that is accurate, well-researched, and meets client/organization needs and deadlines.
  • Prepare and write donor-focused, impact-oriented content for appeal letters, donor reports, monthly acknowledgment letters, and other externally-facing communications, often as a ghostwriter on behalf of executive leadership.
  • Speaking with internal and external parties to learn about their content needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and client-related industry trends
  • Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging
  • Write corporate communications as needed, including press releases.
  • Continually raise the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives action

CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS/EDUCATION NEEDED

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Journalism, English,  Communications or a similar degree
  • Minimum 2-4 years professional copywriting experience with a solid portfolio of work
  •  (agency preferred, corporate or nonprofit also acceptable) 
  • Excellent editorial and copywriting skills.
  • Must send a portfolio of work (web or pdf)
  • Social media or content marketing experience a plus
  • Comfortable presenting concepts and deliverables to client and internal teams
  • Excellent organizational skill and multitasking ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Create and present storyboards of ideas.
