The Patient Hostel (Hope House) Ministry Coordinator
The Patient Hostel (Hope House) Ministry Coordinator is an integral member of the Spiritual Ministry Department, responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and implementing holistic spiritual care and psychosocial support for patients, their caregivers, and families residing in the hospital hostel and Hope House. This position ensures intentional discipleship, trauma-informed care, and family-centered support while collaborating with the spiritual team, hospital staff, and community partners to achieve departmental objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Patient & Family Ministry
- Develop relationships with patients, caregivers, and families; pray with, counsel, and minister to them according to biblical principles.
- Offer trauma-informed pastoral care and psychosocial support, including grief counseling, emotional support, and crisis intervention.
- Orient patients and families on Hope House services and teach them how to support patients during recovery.
- Provide follow-up care for discharged patients and caregivers within the community.
- Facilitate Bible studies, fellowship, worship, and other spiritual activities for patients and caregivers.
- Hope House Program Coordination
- Oversee daily operations of Hope House, including scheduling and coordinating activities such as play-based therapy, fellowship, devotional sessions, and recreational activities.
- Manage Hope House resources, including beds, Bibles, educational materials, and ministry equipment.
- Ensure safety, comfort, and well-being of residents and implement trauma-informed care standards.
- Coordinate with volunteers, ministry partners, and hospital staff to optimize Hope House activities.
- Outreach & Community Engagement
- Support post-discharge follow-up visits and spiritual support for families within the community.
- Represent the department in community and hospital meetings, reporting on Hope House activities and outreach impact.
- Administrative & Capacity Building
- Maintain accurate records of patient/family ministry, spiritual follow-ups, and Hope House activities.
- Prepare and submit reports, data, and patient stories to the Spiritual Director according to established guidelines.
- Facilitate staff and volunteer training, capacity-building sessions, and development of Christian educational materials.
- Ensure compliance with hospital quality programs, infection prevention, and environmental stewardship policies.
5. Collaboration & Team Participation
- Work effectively with the Children’s Mentor, other spiritual team members, and multidisciplinary hospital teams.
- Participate in departmental meetings, ward ministry, devotions, chapel services, and hospital outreach programs.
- Coordinate support other pastoral care providers and volunteers assigned to Hope House activities.
- Contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and strategic objectives for patient and family care.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency in line with hospital quality programs (e.g. Safecare, DOH, etc.) requirements.
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment by strictly adhering to infection prevention and control protocols such as but not limited to handwashing, wearing of PPE, etc.
- Commit to sustainable and eco-friendly work practices by minimizing waste, optimizing resource usage and actively participating in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: Diploma in Theology, Biblical Studies, or Children’s Ministry, complemented by a counseling certification.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Care, or a related field, with counseling certification.
- 2+ years of experience in children-related ministry especially in areas of evangelism, discipleship, counseling, biblical teaching and psychosocial support.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate mature Christian faith with a close personal relationship with the Lord, evidenced by a strong prayer life, commitment to and love for the Word of God and a call to ministry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and the national language(s) of their respective country.
- Administrative Skills: Assisting with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, organizing events or retreats, managing communications, and maintaining records.
- Leadership Skills: Having the ability to lead small groups or discussions on spiritual topics, under the guidance of the Spiritual Director.
- Supportive Presence: Being a compassionate and empathetic listener, providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to share their spiritual journey.
- Flexible and Adaptable: Being willing to assist in various capacities as needed, whether it's supporting group activities, coordinating logistics, or providing one-on-one guidance.
